Getting just a simple Valentine’s Day card for your special one may not be enough if you are a romantic at heart. But for the patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, it would make all the difference in the world. The staff at the Children’s hospital are hoping that all the patients will get free Valentine’s cards from well-wishers in these three days. The best ones are the funny ones, says child life specialist Jackie Avila. The children love repeating the jokes over and over. Just clicking on their website and taking a minute to fill out your message is enough!
11-year-old Kylee Postel suffers from a form of Mitochondrial disease. she can barely get out of bed and she hasn’t has a real food for months. Last year she spent 145 days in the hospital. “I got these cards and they just brighten my day,” Kylee said for the colorful Valentine’s cards sent by visitors of the hospital website.
Specially treated cards are prepared with care to be safe for even for most sensitive patients. “We keep them laminated and clean so we don’t spread any germs and just so it’s safe for our patients here at the hospital,” Jackie Avila said.
