Yesterday all the eyes were on the celebrities walking down the red carpet at the 87th Academy Awards ceremony. We saw beautiful dresses, elegant hairs, handsome suits, and lovely jewelry pieces. Of all the amazing couples we saw gracing the ceremony one was just more stunning than all the rest: The newly weds Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter! Benedict was wearing a white tuxedo jacket which he contrasted with a black bow tie. Expecting soon-to-be-mother Sophie glowed in a daring red dress, complete with golden strapped heels and a gold clutch.
Couples surprise Valentine’s day wedding is still a mystery but we find out new details as anonymous insiders reveal the well hidden secrets of the ceremony. The last big revelation was the best man: TV judge Robert Rinder! Long-time pals were always close, even before they found fame. Cumberbatch also officiated Judge Rinder’s wedding to Seth Cumming in Ibiza in 2013. Although it was rumored that Tom Hiddleston or Martin Freeman was the best man, it turned out Freeman couldn’t make it to the nuptials, while Hiddleston was only one of the distinguished guests.
Cumberbatches exchanged vows at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Mottistone, England, a medieval church dating back to the 12th century. The little church in the Isle of Wight has a capacity of 100 people most, so the wedding guests were very few lucky select friends and family. 38 year old Oscar nominated actor and his 36 year old wife continued the celebration at a reception at adjacent Mottistone Manor after exchanging vows. More guests joined the couple at the reception, including Cumberbatch’s Sherlock nemesis, Andrew Scott, Guy Garvey, the lead singer of Elbow, playwright Polly Stenham, actor Tobias Menzies and pianist James Rhodes.
