A red precious gemstone. The birthstone for July. Color can range from hot pink to deep, blood red. Lab-created rubies are often attempted to pass for genuine- a genuine stone can usually only be deciphered by an experienced gemologist. Fine, genuine rubies can be worth more than diamonds.
