Wedding Rings for Robots

wedding rings for robots

No, we are not selling wedding rings to robots. Not yet.

If C-3PO walks into our showroom with a finger size and a credit card, we’ll figure something out.

For now, our rings are still made for people. But we recently launched something new that makes it much easier for AI assistants to shop 25karats accurately on your behalf.

It’s called MCP, short for Model Context Protocol.

And despite the futuristic name, the idea is pretty simple.

The problem with asking AI to shop for a wedding ring

More and more people use AI assistants to research products, compare options, and narrow down what they want before visiting a website.

That works reasonably well for many products.

Wedding rings are a little different.

A ring might be available in 10K, 14K, 18K gold or platinum. It may come in several widths and dozens of sizes. Change the metal, width, or finger size and the price can change too.

So when an AI assistant finds an old price, reads only the starting price, or simply makes its best guess, you can end up with something like:

“This ring costs $895.”

Then you configure it in 14K gold, size 10, 8mm wide…

Not $895.

That is exactly the problem we wanted to solve.

So we gave the robots a door

We built a public MCP connection that allows compatible AI assistants to communicate directly with the 25karats catalog.

Instead of trying to interpret a webpage or relying on information it may have seen in the past, an AI assistant can ask our system directly:

What rings match this request?

What options are available for this style?

What does this exact combination cost right now?

Our system sends the answer back using current information from our catalog.

Think of MCP as a translator between an AI assistant and 25karats.

You speak normally to the AI.

The AI knows how to ask our catalog.

Our catalog answers.

No robot jewelry degree required.

What can you ask?

You do not need to know anything about MCP or use technical commands.

Just ask the way you would ask someone in our showroom:

  • “Show me men’s braided wedding bands under $2,000.”
  • “How much is style HC100232 in 14K gold, size 10 and 8.5mm wide?”
  • “Show me yellow gold wedding bands around 6mm wide.”
  • “What is the return policy for an engraved wedding band?”
  • “What does a 1-carat round lab-grown diamond, E color and VS2 clarity, cost right now?”

If you already know the 25karats style number, even better. Give it to the assistant along with the metal, size, width, or other options you want.

Why not just tell the AI to look at the website?

Our website is designed for people.

You can look at photographs, choose a metal, select a width, enter your ring size and see how the ring changes.

AI assistants do not always navigate those choices the same way a person does.

For example, an assistant might see the starting price of a wedding band without realizing that the price shown is for a narrower width, a smaller finger size, or a different metal.

That difference matters when every ring is made to order.

With MCP, the assistant can ask 25karats for the configured information instead of trying to figure it out from a product page.

In other words:

Less guessing. More actual ring shopping.

Does the AI buy the ring for me?

No.

The AI can help search our catalog, compare styles, check available options, get current pricing and point you toward the right product.

It does not place your order, store your credit card or make the final decision for you.

And it definitely cannot try the ring on.

Yet.

The rings are still made by humans

This part has not changed.

Every 25karats ring is still made to order in our New York City Diamond District workshop.

Our jewelers still make the ring. Our team still helps with sizing, engraving and custom questions. And if you would rather talk to an actual human being, we are still very much available.

The robots are simply getting better at helping you find us.

Want to try it?

Our public MCP connection is available at:

https://www.25karats.com/mcp

Compatible AI assistants can use it to search 25karats products and retrieve information directly from our catalog.

Or you can continue shopping exactly the same way you always have:

Men’s Wedding Bands

Women’s Wedding Rings

And if you would rather walk through a ring with someone who has a pulse, you can always contact us at 1-800-201-3404 or service@25karats.com.

Our New York City showroom is available by appointment.

For now, the robots can help shop.

You still get the ring.
