Palladium is the way to go! I was looking for a palladium ring for a very long time. It's impossible to find the design I want in palladium locally, so I started checking online options. When I was ready I called them to place my order over the phone. Got an email confirmation for the order. And even for the shipping, with a tracking number! I felt so easy during the whole process, as if I'm buying something from a local store. Only difference was local stores charge you double or tripple and make you wait for weeks if they don't have something ready there.
