Euro Shank

Jewelry Definition

Euro Shank

A Euro shank, also called a European shank, features a squared-off or flat bottom on the band that prevents the ring from spinning on the finger.

This practical design innovation is particularly useful for rings with heavy or off-center top designs that tend to rotate. The flat bottom sits comfortably against the finger while the top portion remains rounded. Euro shanks are almost invisible when worn but significantly improve the wearability of rings with substantial tops.

This design is commonly used in engagement rings with large center stones, three-stone rings, and halo designs where the weight distribution might otherwise cause the ring to turn.
