Morganite
Morganite is a pink to peachy-pink variety of beryl (the same mineral family as emerald and aquamarine) valued for its romantic color and affordability compared to pink diamonds.
Discovered in Madagascar in 1910 and named after financier J.P. Morgan, morganite has become increasingly popular for engagement rings. Its soft pink color comes from traces of manganese, and heat treatment is commonly used to enhance the color by removing any yellow or orange tones.
Morganite ranks 7.5-8 on the Mohs scale, making it suitable for everyday wear with reasonable care. Larger stones show the best color, and most morganites are eye-clean with excellent clarity. The gemstone pairs beautifully with rose gold settings.
