Tapered Baguette

Jewelry Definition

Tapered Baguette

A tapered baguette is a rectangular or trapezoidal shaped diamond with straight facets, narrower at one end than the other, commonly used as side stones in three-stone rings and ring shoulders.

These elegant diamonds are step-cut like emerald cuts, featuring parallel facets that create a 'hall of mirrors' effect rather than brilliance. Tapered baguettes are particularly popular flanking round, oval, or cushion center stones because their shape naturally complements these cuts and draws the eye to the center stone.

Due to their shape and cut style, tapered baguettes should be very high clarity (VS2 or better) as inclusions are more visible in step-cut diamonds. They add sophisticated elegance without overwhelming the center stone.
