Plain and Classic Wedding Bands for Men

A plain band has nowhere to hide. With no stones and no pattern, everything rests on two decisions: the cross section of the metal and the finish over it. Both are chosen at the time of order, because each band here is cut to specification rather than picked from stock.

Profile changes more than you expect

A flat band has square shoulders and a hard edge that reads modern and slightly architectural. A half round dome is the traditional wedding band silhouette, rounded across the top so light rolls along it rather than breaking at an edge. A low dome sits between the two. A knife edge rises to a ridge down the center and throws a bright line along the finger. A Euro soft edge is a flat band with the corners eased, which keeps the modern look without the sharp shoulder catching on a cuff.

Finish, and living with it

High polish is the brightest and the most honest about wear: it will show fine scratches within weeks and polish back to new whenever you want. Satin and cross satin diffuse the surface so scratches blend into the grain. Wire matte, stone finish and Florentine textures go further and are close to maintenance free. Hammered and rough finishes hide the most of all because the surface is already irregular. None of these is permanent, and refinishing is covered by the lifetime warranty.

Width, metal and comfort fit

Plain bands read wider than patterned ones because there is nothing to break up the surface, so a 6mm plain band looks more substantial than a 6mm carved one. Most designs here are available with a comfort fit interior, which clears the knuckle more easily and runs about half a size large. Yellow and rose gold need no upkeep. White gold is finished with rhodium plating and stays brightest with re-plating every year or three, which is one reason some buyers choose platinum instead: see gold versus platinum for the trade-offs.
