Anniversary Rings for Women

An anniversary ring is the rare piece of jewelry with a number built into it. Most designs here carry a counted row: five, seven, nine or eleven diamonds, and the count is not decoration. Five stones is the classic milestone gift, seven reads as a fuller row, and nine and eleven approach the look of a full band while keeping the underside plain, which is what keeps them resizable.

How the stones are held

Channel set rows run the stones between two continuous walls of metal and wear the hardest. Shared prong and U-prong settings open the sides of each stone to light and give the brightest row. Basket and trellis settings lift the row slightly and interlace beneath it, a detail you only see from the side, and bar set designs separate each stone with a polished bar. Princess cut rows read as an unbroken line of squares; round brilliant rows give more sparkle and show the rhythm of the row.

Counted rows, sized normally

Because the stones stop partway around, an anniversary ring sizes like an ordinary band, which a full eternity ring does not. Carat totals run from about a tenth of a carat to well over a carat, in white, yellow or rose gold or in platinum, with natural or lab grown stones on most designs. A few designs alternate sapphires with the diamonds; the full color collection is in sapphire and diamond bands.
