A diamond grading characteristic that is measured in a range from D to Z, D being colorless and Z being heavily yellow or colored. Colorless diamonds command the highest prices. Color is also one of the most important characteristics in determining the value of colored gem stones. Color in gem stones is described by hue, saturation, and tone.
