Halo Setting
A halo setting features a ring of smaller diamonds or gemstones surrounding the center stone, creating the illusion of a larger center diamond and adding extra sparkle.
This popular setting style originated in the Georgian and Victorian eras and has seen a major resurgence in modern engagement rings. The halo not only makes the center stone appear up to half a carat larger but also provides additional protection for the edges of the center diamond. Halos can be single, double, or even triple rows of diamonds.
Halo settings work beautifully with all diamond shapes including round, princess, cushion, oval, and pear. The surrounding diamonds add approximately 0.50 to 1.00 carats of total diamond weight to the ring.
