Lab-Grown Diamond
A lab-grown diamond, also called lab-created, man-made, or synthetic diamond, is a real diamond created in a laboratory using advanced technology that replicates the natural diamond formation process.
These diamonds have identical physical, chemical, and optical properties to mined diamonds - they're made of pure carbon in a crystal structure and score 10 on the Mohs hardness scale. Two main methods create them: High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). Lab-grown diamonds are typically 20-40% less expensive than comparable mined diamonds.
Major grading laboratories including GIA and IGI certify lab-grown diamonds with the same standards as natural diamonds, clearly noting their laboratory origin on certificates. They offer an environmentally friendly and budget-conscious alternative to mined diamonds.
