Ring Sizing

Jewelry Definition

Ring Sizing

Ring sizing is the process of making a ring larger or smaller to fit properly, ensuring comfort and security when worn.

Sizing up involves cutting the band and adding a piece of matching metal, then soldering and refinishing seamlessly. Sizing down involves cutting out a section of the band and rejoining the ends. Most rings can be sized up or down by 1-2 sizes, though certain designs (eternity bands, tension settings, or those with complex patterns) have sizing limitations.

Proper ring fit is crucial - the ring should slide over your knuckle with slight resistance and feel snug at the base of your finger without being tight. Professional sizing ensures structural integrity and maintains the ring's appearance. Some rings may need rhodium re-plating after sizing.
