Shank Repair
Shank repair involves rebuilding or replacing a worn, thin, or damaged ring band to restore structural integrity and wearability.
Ring shanks naturally wear down over time, particularly on the bottom (palm side) due to friction against surfaces and between fingers. When a shank becomes too thin (typically less than 1mm), it risks breaking. Repair involves cutting out the worn section and replacing it with new metal, or in severe cases, replacing the entire shank while preserving the setting.
Regular inspection can catch shank wear before it becomes critical. Wedding bands and engagement rings worn daily for many years commonly need shank repair or replacement. The repair should match the original metal type and finish seamlessly.
